I remember years ago being part of a summer mission team in Lossiemouth on the Moray Coast in Scotland, a very beautiful part of the country. One of the activities we had was to dress up and scatter through the town and the kids were to find us and when they did we used a marker to sign on them. The kids entered into it with great gusto. When we were discovered, some of us were very well hidden, we wrote our mark on their faces, arms, legs navels, backs, you get the idea. I am thinking in today’s hyper sensitivity to health and safety and child protection we probably wouldn’t be allowed to have such harmless fun. I wish I could find the photo I remember taken with me in full Superman outfit at a phone box. Yes that’s right cape and pants over the blue tights even a kiss curl, I had more hair in those days. I don’t know why this came to mind today but it made me smile and then to think. There has been a huge return in the film industry to the Marvel super heroes and they are very popular. I think in part we like the concept of good overcoming evil but that is only part of it. I think at some levels we all secretly would like to be the one in the iron man suit or the cape, okay maybe not the tights and let’s be honest some of us would find lycra really wouldn’t be a flattering look. We would like to be able to bring a positive effect in our world, to go beyond the norm. The thing is we all have that capacity. Most of us focus on our limitations rather than looking at how marvellous we are. We are so unconscious to the power within. Our bodies and brains are truly amazing. Not convinced? Think about it as you are reading this you are breathing, digesting food, your eyes are taking in information and the brain is processing that. You didn’t wake this morning and say right I best start to breath, getting out of bed wasn’t a case of move the duvet, slip my left or right leg out etc. These thought processes you were totally unaware of they just happened. Your brain is better than the most overclocked Intel chip you will find. You have tremendous potential, I have tremendous potential. The problem is we are programmed and hypnotised every day. We are conditioned to think of what we cannot do rather than to focus on our possibilities and potential. So we don’t need a special uniform, though if that’s something you like, I won’t knock it. You are a Super Hero, there is so much you can do.
